What is Nivah?
Nivah is a modern Indian fragrance brand. We make bamboo-free, naturally crafted incense for every room — not just the pooja corner. Our products are rooted in India's pre-bamboo incense tradition and made without synthetic binders, artificial fragrances, or chemical fillers.
Why bamboo-free? What's wrong with bamboo sticks?
The bamboo core incense stick was only invented in the early 1900s — it's a modern manufacturing shortcut, not a tradition. More importantly, bamboo has been considered inauspicious in Indian culture since ancient times and is explicitly prohibited from being burned in sacred spaces in classical texts. Every Nivah product is bamboo-free as a return to the original, pre-bamboo form of Indian incense.
What are Nivah products made from?
Natural resins, roots, bark, botanicals, and essential oils — depending on the fragrance. No synthetic fragrance compounds, no artificial binders, no charcoal fillers. What you smell is what's in it.

Nivah products are made in India, crafted by skilled artisans using time-tested methods and natural ingredients.
Where can I use Nivah incense?
Anywhere you want the air to feel different. Your living room, bedroom, workspace, yoga mat, bathroom — or during meditation, prayer, or any ritual. There's no wrong room and no wrong reason.
How long does each product burn?
Our 5-inch and 7-inch incense sticks both burn for approximately 40 to 50 minutes. Dhoop cylinders and Sambrani cups burn for approximately 30 to 40 minutes. Burn time may vary slightly based on ventilation and airflow.
Are Nivah products safe for daily use?
Yes. Because we use natural ingredients without synthetic chemical binders, Nivah products are suitable for regular daily use. If you have respiratory sensitivities or allergies, we recommend burning in a well-ventilated space. As with all incense, keep away from children and pets during use.
What is Sambrani and how do I use it?
Sambrani is one of India's oldest fragrance resins, traditionally burned in homes to purify and scent the air. Our Sambrani Cups are pre-formed for easy use: place the cup in a heat-safe holder, light the top, blow out the flame, and let it smoulder. No stick, no bamboo, just resin and smoke.
What makes the Dhoop different from regular dhoop cones?
Our Dhoop is cylindrical, not cone-shaped. This isn't just aesthetic — a cylinder burns more slowly and evenly than a cone, diffusing fragrance more consistently across a larger space. It's a deliberate format choice.
How should I store my Nivah products?
Keep them in the original packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. Properly stored, they retain their fragrance for up to 24 months.
Do you ship across India?
Yes, we ship pan-India. Orders are typically dispatched within 2 working days. Delivery timelines vary by location — generally 3 to 7 working days.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes, free shipping on all orders above Rs. 350.
Can I return or exchange a product?
All sales are final. However, if you receive a damaged, defective, or incorrect product, please contact us within 24 hours of delivery with an unboxing video at humans@nivah.co and we will arrange a replacement.
